Borehole water treatment designed around the water

There is no single “borehole filter” that solves every source. HydroGrid designs treatment around the laboratory result, flow requirement, daily demand and what the treated water will actually be used for.

Start with the water analysis

Iron, manganese, hardness, acidity, nitrate, salinity, turbidity and microbiological contamination require different treatment mechanisms. Selecting media before understanding the water can lead to short run times, poor quality, excessive maintenance or equipment that never addresses the actual problem.

A treatment train, not a single filter

A complete plant may combine storage, pumping, oxidation, pH correction, media filtration, softening, ion exchange, cartridge filtration, reverse osmosis and disinfection. The order matters because one process often protects or prepares the water for the next.

Flow rate and daily volume change the design

A system that produces 1,000 litres per day for a home is a different engineering problem from a commercial plant processing tens of thousands of litres. Peak flow, regeneration/backwash demand, storage and pump duty all need to be considered.

Commissioning and maintenance

Treatment performance depends on correct commissioning and maintenance. Media eventually needs service or replacement, UV lamps age, dosing chemicals run out and pumps require attention. HydroGrid designs with operation and maintainability in mind rather than treating installation as the end of the project.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers to common questions we receive when planning this type of water project.

Does every borehole need reverse osmosis?

No. RO is appropriate for particular dissolved-water-quality problems and product-water requirements. Many boreholes can be treated with targeted filtration, conditioning and disinfection without whole-house RO.

Why is storage included in many treatment designs?

Storage can provide buffer capacity between borehole yield, treatment production and peak demand. It can also support controlled treatment stages where contact time is required.

Can an existing borehole system be upgraded?

Often, yes. HydroGrid can assess the existing pumps, tanks, filters, controls and water analysis before deciding what can be retained and what needs modification.

Need a system designed around your actual water?

Send HydroGrid your location, water source, intended use, approximate daily demand and any existing laboratory report. We can then identify the information needed before a treatment proposal is prepared.
